The State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection discussed with the USA the increase of biosafety in Ukraine

On April 17th the head of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection Volodymyr Lapa and representatives of the program of reducing the biological threat of the US Threat Reduction Agency discussed raising the level of safety on the territory of Ukraine regarding infectious animal diseases. This is reported by the press service of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, according to agravery.com.

During the meeting a question of increasing biosafety in the quarantine zones of the ASF, ways to increase the effectiveness of mechanisms for detecting, diagnosing and reporting outbreaks of diseases and pathogens of animals, in particular, ASF, infectious dermatitis of cattle, foot and mouth disease, spongiform encephalopathy of cattle were discussed.

The Ukrainian side marked an epizootic state in Ukraine, in particular, ASF and mechanisms to prevent its spread. They also talked about the state of the diagnostic system in Ukraine, in particular, discussed the situation of the laboratory network after the reorganization of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection.

Participants discussed the needs of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection in material and technical assistance within the framework of the strategy to reduce the biological threat and to define a new mechanism for cooperation with the program to reduce the biological threat of the US Threat Reduction Agency and the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection.

Also the state of modern science in Ukraine, cooperation in this area of ​​the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, domestic scientific institutions and higher education institutions and the US Agency for Reducing the Threat were analyzed.
