Ukraine will develop trade in agricultural products with Indonesia

The Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, Olena Kovalova, met with the Director General for Food Agricultural Crops of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia, Dr. Sumarjo Gatot Irianto. According to her, for 8 months of this year the volume of trade in agricultural products between Ukraine and Indonesia increased by 35% compared to 2016. In Ukraine, there is every opportunity to increase exports.

Olena Kovalova noted that the Ukrainian side is interested in completing the coordination of the draft Protocol between the representatives of the countries on cooperation in the field of quarantine and plant protection. Already at the end of November, bilateral consultations of specialists of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection on phytosanitary issues of Ukrainian wheat exports to the Indonesian market will be held.

Work is under way to establish trade in livestock products. Ministry of Agrarian Policy and the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection collect information on interested Ukrainian producers for further processing of the necessary documents for opening access of Ukrainian beef to the market of Indonesia.
In turn, Indonesia also expressed interest in expanding bilateral trade cooperation, development of investment relations in the agro-industrial complex.
