The State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection (SSUFSCP) improves the procedure for compensation of damages for cattle seized because of ASF

Such changes will allow prompt and full payment of funds to citizens and specialized farms for seized cattle from the population for ASF. This was announced by the Chairman of the SSUFSCP Volodymyr Lapa.

 

He noted that in the draft budget for 2018, which is registered in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers proposed to significantly increase the amount of funding for antiepizootic measures: if this year it was allocated 113 million UAH, then next year it is proposed to provide 687 million UAH .

 

"Now the reimbursement is carried out from the reserve funds of local budgets. Therefore, citizens will receive money when the local council takes a decision," says Volodymyr Lapa.

 

According to the Chairman of the SSUFSCP, an increase in 6 times the budget of financing of antiepizootic measures for the next year will make it possible to take such measures to a new level, including promptly and in full payment to the population for compensation for the removal of pigs due to ASF.

 

Volodymyr Lapa said that now the refund is carried out from the reserve funds of local budgets, therefore the citizens will receive the money when the local council decides.

In 2017, as of September, private sector farms were reimbursed for the loss of pigs in cases of ASF in the amount of 15921637.14 UAH, which is 89% of the required amount of compensation. Simultaneously, during the same period, the farms were reimbursed 1470591.28 UAH, which is only 1% of the envisaged amount of reimbursement.
