Over the month, average prices for pork in Ukraine increased by 0.8%, for salo - by 4.8%.

This is evidenced by the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, reports UNN.

According to the results of January, the cost of 1 kg of pork in Ukraine averaged 110.28 UAH, 1 kg of salo - 72.20 UAH.

So, according to the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, fat in the capital and the region has appreciably risen in price up to 110.63 and 81.53 UAH per 1 kg, respectively. For residents of central Ukraine, pork also increased in price. According to the results of January, the cost of 1 kg of the product in Kyiv averaged 118.21 UAH, in the region - 114.63 UAH.

Meanwhile, the number of pigs in Ukraine is declining. The indicator "dipped" by another 8%. Among the reasons is the spread of ASF in the country.

It bears reminding that it was said in the FAO that to determine the extent of the spread of African swine fever in Ukraine is impossible because of the limited capacity of official Ukrainian veterinary services to quickly identify and confirm the disease.

This year, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has allocated hundreds of millions to fight against ASF. And this despite the fact that in previous years the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection very inefficiently used budgetary funds.
