On April 24 of this year Ukraine banned the importation of animals that can be easily infected with ASF, products, raw materials, their reproductive material and feeds from Hungary. This was reported to UNN by the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection.

It is reported that this decision was made in connection with the receipt by the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection of urgent notification to the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE) on the registration of animal diseases in the territory of the Republic of Hungary.

Previously, the threatening trends in the distribution of ASF were announced in Poland. The European Commission has invested more than 50 million euros in combating the ASF since 2013, and it is not going to support the farmers more financially in the confrontation of the disease.

In Ukraine, meanwhile, the problem of ASF has not been solved over more than 3 years. This entailed considerable damage for farmers, a reduction in the number of pigs and a rise in the price of pork and lard. In addition, as deputy Serhii Tryhubenko said, Ukraine has increased its imports of pork from the Netherlands.

Such volumes of pork supplies from abroad have not been available over the last 4 years.
