The virus of African swine fever was recorded in the Volgograd, Kaliningrad and Chuvashiia regions of the Russian Federation. Also, the disease was found in the Crimea. The virus was found in carcasses of domestic pigs, wild boars and ready-to-sell meat products.

Twice in recent days, the virus was found in samples taken from the corpses of wild boars: in the vicinity of the city of Sudak in the Republic of Crimea and in the territory of the Poretskyi district forestry of the "Shumerlinskii Forestry" of the Chuvash Republic. In Kalininhrad, it was found in samples taken from domestic pigs from the personal farm of a resident of Kalininhrad.

Also, the genetic material of the virus was found in hams and half-smoked sausages, which were taken from the slaughter and processing enterprise at the Lobakin farm in the Surovikinskyi district of the Volgohrad region.
Meanwhile, in Poland they admit that they have begun to fight the disease late.

"Now we have to admit that the disease will remain on the territory of Poland. The chairman of the National Union of Employers of Producers of Pigs, Marian Caplon, believes that three years have been wasted, and the most appropriate time to cope with the disease was the first year and a half. Then ASF was in a relatively small part of the country, where less transport, population and lower concentration of production. It was then that there were maximum chances to stop it. A few weeks after the outbreak of the epidemic, the National Union of Employers of Producers of Pigs organized a conference on ASF. Even then, experts unequivocally pointed to what needs to be done to destroy the disease. Unfortunately, their recommendations were not accepted, and as a result, the virus already surrounded Warsaw - a major transport hub and, which worsens the situation, the territory with much more intensive pig production.

Pig breeder's fears are shared by politicians. The head of the "Polish Peasant Party" Vladyslav Kosyniak-Kamysh argues that the ASF brings with it the loss of jobs and livelihoods for thousands of Polish farmers. Pig breeders do not receive any compensation, and the special law proposed by the government is, in his opinion, just an imitation of activity.

In Lithuania, the spread of African swine fever has expanded. The first case of this disease was recorded in Raseinskyi district. This is the thirty-first district (from 60 in Lithuania), where the ASF distribution is officially announced.

Last Saturday, within the framework of the Arohaly 's starosty, 6 dead wild boars were found in the forest of Stenoniai. Soon two more wild boars were found in the forest of Rushishkiai, 10 km from Stenoniai. The laboratory was diagnosed with ASF. The head of the Raseinskyi branch of the State Food and Veterinary Inspection Henrikas Medvyakas stressed that in the cases of the disease the ASF was not recorded.

Until May 15, at a boar not less than 24 months old, a bonus of 300 euros is paid to hunters. However, the hunters do not hurry to destroy the wild boars, so as not to lose the opportunity to hunt them.
