The level of profitability of operating activities of enterprises of agriculture, forestry and fisheries in 2017 amounted to 22.7% against 8.9% in the whole for the economy of Ukraine. This was stated by the director of the National Scientific Center "Institute of Agrarian Economics", Academician of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine Yurii Lupenko, AgroPolit.com reported.

According to him, the enterprises of the industry received almost 79.1 billion UAH of net profit, which is the highest index among all types of economic activity and almost by 25 billion UAH exceeds the profit of the industry.

Agriculture provided 43.5% of the net profit of all Ukrainian enterprises. Profits received 86.1% of enterprises of agriculture, forestry and fisheries versus 72.5% of the economy as a whole, the scientist noted.

At the same time, last year the profits of agricultural enterprises decreased by 11.6 billion UAH against 2016, while the share of unprofitable enterprises increased from 12.3% to 13.9%, the academician noted.

It should also be taken into account that only 5.2% of the costs of crop production are spent on crop production, and 7.6% on livestock products. That is, the relatively high profitability of agriculture does not yet ensure a corresponding increase in the incomes of those employed in the industry and the rural population, Yurii Lupenko summed up.
