Meat production is running down in the Kharkiv region

According to the data of the department, as of May 1, the number of cattle in the farms of the region was 194.8 thousand, pigs - 166.7 thousand, sheep and goats - 80 thousand, poultry - 5.9 million.

Compared to the corresponding date of the previous year, the number of poultry decreased by 1.2 million heads (by 17%), pigs by 18.2 thousand heads (by 9.8%), cattle - by 6.8 thousand heads (by 3.4%), sheep and goats - by 1.3 thousand heads (by 1.6%).

In January-April 2018 the region's farms produced 43.3 thousand tons of meat (in live weight), milk - 155.4 thousand tons, eggs - 153.6 million pieces. Compared with the corresponding period last year, meat production decreased by 8.8%, eggs - by 2.7%, milk - by 0.1%.
