In September, the average value of the FAO Meat Price Index was 173.2 points, unchanged from the August level, but 9.5 points (5.8%) higher than the same period last year.

This was reported by the press service of FAO.

In September, the growth of international prices for lamb compensated for the decline in pork prices, while prices for beef and poultry remained virtually unchanged.

The prices for mutton have grown under the influence of high import demand, especially from the countries of the Middle East and South-East Asia, and due to the continued limited continuation in Oceania.

At the same time, prices for pork slightly decreased, which was facilitated by an increase in supplies from Brazil. The prices for poultry meat and beef remained almost unchanged as the supply remained at a sufficient level.
