The Bulgarian authorities reported the first outbreak of African swine fever in the country on a farm near the border with Romania, pigua.info reported.

The State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection recorded a new case of African swine fever (ASF) in the Odesa region. This time ASF was found at Agrogrime Holding breeding plant, which is located in the village of Karakurt, Bolhrad region, agroday.com.ua reported.

In the Sumy region new cases of African swine fever were recorded. This is stated in the message of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, UNN reported.

On Saturday, August 25 in Romania African swine fever was recorded on the largest farm in the country, which is the second largest in Europe - in the town of Gropeni, the district of Braila, with more than 140,000 pigs. All animals on the farm will be slaughtered, MEDIAFAX reported according to pigua.info.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) issued a warning that an outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) in China could spread to neighboring regions and countries. This was reported by the press office of the Secretary-General of the World Organization, UNN reported.

According to information from the main departments of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection in the Poltava, Sumy and Cherkasy regions, from 16.08.2018 to 22.08.2018, 5 cases of African swine fever were recorded.

First Vice-President of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences Mykhailo Hladii instructed the heads of the research farms of the NASA network to strengthen veterinary and sanitary measures to protect animals from African swine fever (ASF). In the Kherson region only enterprises that have confirmed the observance of a closed production regime can trade and transport live pigs, raw materials and pig production.
