During the first two months of 2018, Ukrainian chicken meat broke records on price accessibility and export. This is reported by the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine and the State Statistics Service, reports UNN.

It is reported that in the first two months of 2018 Ukraine increased poultry meat exports by 40%, without destabilizing domestic prices: exports reached 44.45 thousand tones and brought the country 68.8 thousand dollars of foreign exchange earnings.

The first place in the list of importing countries of Ukrainian chicken is Holland. In January-February of this year, Ukraine supplied the poultry meat to Holland for $ 16.4 thousand. The second place is occupied by Iraq with the figure of $ 9.8 thousand. The top three countries are Slovakia, where Ukraine exported chicken for 9 thousand dollars.

"According to FAO, world prices for chicken meat have grown by 25%. This indicates that today it is more profitable to export than to let on the domestic market," says expert Pavel Moroz.

He added that there is no need to worry about the internal consumer because of the scarcity of chicken. Today domestic producers fully cover the need of the domestic market. Moreover, they even managed to reduce selling prices for a while. According to the inflation barometer, at the beginning of March this year, the price fell by 5.5%.

Pavel Moroz explains this by the stabilization of the hryvnia and the approval of state support programs for the agroindustrial complex.

"At the beginning of February, at last, they adopted a resolution of the Cabinet, which fixed the types of subsidized state support for the AIC for 2018. This year the state support programs changed, but overall, this was a positive impetus, producers received information on how they can curb the growth in the cost of the product in the current year. This is one of the factors why the chicken has become cheaper in Ukraine," he explains.

He noted that in the coming months the hryvnia exchange rate will influence the price of chicken meat and with it the production costs, where the prices for electricity, fuel, salaries, etc., would be vital.
