More than 600 thousand studies were conducted by the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection to ensure the epidemic well-being of the population

In 2017, the territorial bodies of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection during the implementation of state supervision (control) conducted monitoring studies of food and non-food products in four areas of the Service:

  • compliance with consumer protection legislation and market surveillance;
  • compliance of sanitary legislation to ensure sanitary and epidemic welfare of the population;
  • compliance by business entities with food safety and quality indicators; in the field of plant quarantine and measures to establish the phytosanitary status of the facilities.

According to the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, such monitoring studies are conducted to prevent or reduce the risks of outbreaks of infectious diseases, poisoning of citizens, the spread of infectious diseases, preventing violations of sanitary legislation and preventing the entry of low-quality food and industrial products into circulation. Now the results of the monitoring studies at the central level have already been summarized and analyzed in all directions.

Thus, 1627 independent expert examinations were carried out during the state control over observance of the legislation on protection of consumers' rights and market supervision. Within the framework of state supervision over the observance of sanitary legislation, more than 612,300 laboratory and instrumental studies, tests, measurements and examinations were carried out to ensure the sanitary and epidemic well-being of the population. In the sphere of observance by the subjects of management of the requirements for food safety and certain quality indicators, nearly 70,000 laboratory studies of sanitation facilities were carried out. Almost 1.4 million laboratory tests were carried out in the field of plant quarantine and measures to establish the phytosanitary condition of the facilities.
