African swine fever threatens the territory of the Slovak Republic from the Czech Republic, Poland and Ukraine.

According to the Slovak Agricultural and Food Chamber (SPPK), it is necessary that the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development takes a clear position on urgent measures to prevent the penetration of the virus into the country.

President of the OPK Humenné Hunting Commission, Mr. Yaroslav Dutko, proposes to reduce the number of wild boars by 90%. "To avoid any pandemic, we must reduce the wildlife to the lowest level."

On January 10, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development of the Slovak Republic issued a special permit for hunting wild animals. However, according to the SPPK, this is not enough, and the actions should be more resolute.
