Germany launched an emergency antiepizootic program to fight against ASF with a budget of 2 million euros.

This was stated by the agrarian minister of the federal state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Til Bakkhaus, reports UNN with reference to the interregional environmental organization "Green Front".

The program was launched in connection with the epidemic of ASF, which swept through Eastern Europe and has already reached Poland and the Czech Republic.

As part of the program, it is planned to dramatically reduce the population of wild pigs on the territory of the federal land, in order to minimize the risk of transmission of the ASF virus by domestic livestock.

According to the minister, the outbreak of African swine fever threatens with severe economic losses: in Germany there are 26,000 farms with 28 million pigs, more than 40 meat-processing and processing enterprises, which number about 3,700 employees and have turnover of 980 million euros.

As reported UNN, since 2016 in Ukraine, almost 78 thousand pigs were killed because of ASF. Following the results of 2016 farmers did not receive about 40% of compensation for this disease.

According to People's Deputy S.Tryhubenko, in order to minimize losses of farmers and the state as a whole, in Ukraine it is necessary to renew the practice of insurance of farms from ASF.
