New outbreaks of ASF detected in Cherkasy and Mykolaiv regions

The State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection registered the diseases of African swine fever (ASF) in two regions of Ukraine - Cherkasy and Odesa.

This was reported by the press service of the department.
So, according to the information of the Main Department of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection in the Cherkasy region, on October 12, 2017 in the personal subsidiary farm of a citizen in the Yatranivka village of the Umanskyi district of the Cherkassy region the disease and the death of a pig were recorded.

In the study of selected samples of biomaterial in the State Scientific Research Institute for Laboratory Diagnostics and the Veterinary and Sanitary Expertise (Kiev) on October 13, 2017, the ASF diagnosis was established.
In addition, according to the information of the Main Directorate of the State Food Consumption Service in the Mykolaiv region on October 14, 2017, the corpse of a domestic pig was found on the territory of the landfill about 1 km from the city of Nova Odesa, Mykolaiv region.

In the study of selected samples of the biomaterial in the State Scientific Research Institute for Laboratory Diagnostics and the Veterinary and Sanitary Expertise on 15.10.2017, the DNA of the ASF virus was detected.

With a view to coordinating actions to localize and eliminate ASF outbreaks, a meeting of state emergency antiepizootic commissions was held at the Uman and Novoodeskyi regional state administrations, the decisions of which approved plans for the elimination of ASF, the borders of epizootic focus, protection zones and surveillance.

In the foci of the disease, measures are taken to localize and prevent the spread of the pathogen of ASF.
