Ukraine and China signed the Program of investment cooperation in the agro-industrial complex

Today, China is one of the priority trade partners for Ukraine in the agrarian sector and stably enters the TOP-3 of the key importing countries of our agricultural and food products.

Thanks to the systematic and painstaking work of representatives of both governments, 2017 has very fruitful results of cooperation in the agricultural sector for both countries. However, there are still many unrealized opportunities for cooperation in the agro-industry.

This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine on issues of European integration Olha Trofimtseva during the Third meeting of the Commission on Cooperation between the Governments of Ukraine and the PRC. During the event, a program of Ukrainian-Chinese investment cooperation in the agro-industrial complex was signed between the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine, the Ministry of Commerce of the People's Republic of China and the Ministry of Agriculture of China.

"The main goal of the signed document is to fix the priority areas of the Ukrainian-Chinese investment cooperation in the agro-industrial complex and the key mechanisms and instruments for such cooperation. This framework intergovernmental agreement will give an impetus to the business of the two countries for specific investment projects in the agricultural sector, "comments the Deputy Minister for European Integration Olha Trofimtseva.
She said that over the past two years, the trade turnover between agro products between Ukraine and China is more than $ 1 billion. "The Council noted that by the results of 2017, our parties were able to achieve important results for further cooperation. This is the signing of the Protocols on the export of frozen beef, beet pulp and sunflower meal from Ukraine to China, already 27 Ukrainian dairy producers have the right to export their goods to the Chinese market,
" notes Olha Trofimtseva. 

According to the Deputy Minister for European Integration, the Ukrainian agricultural sector has a significant potential to become a production hub for foreign partners. "The initiative of the Chinese colleagues to create the Economic Belt of the Great Silk Road opens up great opportunities for us. Among the investment directions and cooperation projects in the agro-industrial complex, which may be of interest to Chinese partners: transport logistics, production and processing of agricultural products, production of machinery, etc., «stresses the deputy minister.

- Optimization and increase of land use efficiency;
- expansion of logistics capacities, production and processing of agricultural products;
- expansion of production of machinery and technology supply in Ukraine;
- Concentration of joint efforts on the modernization of water management facilities and the irrigation system of Ukraine.
