The export of Ukrainian agrarian and food products to the EU increased by 39.8%

According to the results of January-September of 2017, the export of Ukrainian agrarian and food products to the countries of the European Union increased by 39.8% and amounted to $ 4.177 billion. At the same time, imports from European countries grew by 11.7% to $ 1.581 billion.

This was told by the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine on European Integration Olha Trofimtseva, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy said.

"In general, the increase in our exports to the markets of the EU countries was mainly due to the growth in the volumes of deliveries of such products as: corn - by 57.4%, rapeseed or rape seeds by 72.9%, sunflower oil by 23%. In addition, shipments of meat and food by-products of poultry, honey, confectionery, margarine products and such interesting niche products as sorghum or flax seeds have increased significantly, " notes Olha Trofimtseva.

She added that the key importers of Ukrainian agricultural and food products among the EU countries are the Netherlands with a share of 17.6%, Spain - 15.5%, Poland - 12.9%, Italy - 11.9% and Germany - 9.9% .

"It is very pleasant to note that in the EU markets there is a growing demand for Ukrainian finished products. For example, in January-September, 2017, butter was exported to the amount of $ 12.6 million, and in the same period of 2016 this figure was only $ 5,000. Also, the supplies of Ukrainian ice cream, condensed milk, starch, sugar confectionery, etc.", - notes Olha Trofimtseva.

The deputy minister recalled that the tariff quotas for a whole range of low Ukrainian agricultural products have now been fully used: sugar, honey, barley, barley and flour, processed tomatoes, grape and apple juice, corn, wheat.

"Among the additional trade preferences, which came into effect on October 1, 2017, Ukrainian exporters have already fully used quotas for honey with a volume of 2500 tons. 36.5% used quotas for processed tomatoes, and 5.9% - quota for barley and flour. In the meantime, additional trade preferences for grape juice are still exhausted - 500 tons and oats - 4000 tons, «sums up Olha Trofimtseva.
