On September 20, 2017, the Chairman of the SSUFSCP Volodymyr Lapa met with the members of the Committee for Grains and Oilseeds of the European Business Association, during which the prospects for the entry of domestic companies into new markets were discussed.

The meeting was also attended by Deputy Head of the Department of phytosanitary security Vadym Chaikovskyi.

Volodymyr Lapa informed the representatives of the Association about the current state of exports of Ukrainian agricultural products, in particular, to the PRC market. At the same time, he drew attention to the recent signing of sanitary and phytosanitary requirements protocols regarding exports of sunflower meal and beet pulp from Ukraine to China, which, in fact, open a new market for Ukrainian exporters.

Participants of the event noted that the expansion of the list of agricultural products exported from Ukraine is among the priorities of the industry.

Together with this, the members of the Committee of Grain and Oilseeds of the European Business Association expressed interest in exporting peas, wheat, sorghum, and rape to the PRC. In their opinion, the signing of relevant protocols with the Chinese side on these types of products will allow diversifying the export of Ukrainian agricultural products of plant origin.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed the procedure for implementing phytosanitary control in the export of grain. The chairman of the SSUFSCP said that changes had already been made in the appropriate procedure for sampling products for determining its phytosanitary status and the procedure for conducting arbitration studies. He noted that after consultations with representatives of the business environment, these changes will be submitted for approval to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

In addition, the meeting participants discussed issues related to the phytosanitary requirements of importing countries for the export of Ukrainian products from zones free of quarantine or harmful organisms. Vadym Chaikovskyi spoke about the procedure for establishing such zones or sites and stressed the inadmissibility of violating the phytosanitary requirements of the partner countries of Ukraine in the international trade of plants and plant products.

Issues of increasing the receipt of notifications to Ukraine, the problems of fumigation and the results of the trip of the trade mission of the Ministry of Economic Development to India, in which representatives of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, the SSUFSCP and business took part, were also discussed.

At the request of the participants of the meeting, the specialists of the the SSUFSCP gave explanations regarding certain norms of regulatory legal acts in the sphere of plant quarantine.
