According to the State Statistics Service, which was provided by the Ukrainian Stock Breeders Association, the amount of export of livestock products for the 9 months of 2017 was 791,685,000 US dollars. This is a 46.5% increase over the same period last year.

In particular, live animals were exported to 31086100 US dollars (47.9% more than last year), meat and edible offal - by 397,177,600 thousand US dollars (46.7% more compared to 2016), milk and dairy products - by 337 245 700 thousand US dollars (46.2% more than in 2016).

In total, the share of agricultural products and food products in the total structure of Ukraine's exports was 41.2%.

"As you can see, it is agrarians that bring the state the lion's share of foreign exchange earnings," says Iryna Palamar, chair of the USBA. - But today the state does little to help producers of such an area as livestock - the most complex and labor-intensive in comparison with other areas of agrarian activity.

This also applies to the complex mechanism of state support for livestock producers, which requires immediate simplification so that entrepreneurs can develop their business; and the approval of the Program to combat ASF, which we have long developed jointly with scientists and the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, and has not yet been signed; and the imperfection of the budgetary financing of the industry (untimely approval of regulatory acts for which the funds can be distributed, and why, in fact, they remain unused) and the imperfection of the criteria for assessing the degree of risks for which tax bills of entrepreneurs who experience huge losses are blocked; and solving many other important issues that our Association constantly raises at the meetings of the agrarian committee and public events.

Indeed, it is in the field of animal husbandry that today there are wide opportunities for export development: our bulls are very popular in Muslim countries of Asia, and pork was in great demand in neighboring countries of the former CIS, until the African swine fever came to us. Therefore, if we want the development of agrarian exports to be even more powerful, we need to pay more attention to livestock production."
