Ukraine and Poland agreed on the development of transport communication

Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelian and Minister of Infrastructure and Construction of the Republic of Poland signed a Memorandum of Understanding on further cooperation within the framework of the Via Carpatia project. The signing ceremony took place on October 22, 2017, in the town of Przemyśl (Poland).

Volodymyr Omelian and Andrzej Adamczyk also held a bilateral meeting, during which they discussed the preparations for the construction of two new transport corridors: Via Carpatia and GO Highway, improving the railway communication between Ukraine and Poland. Volodymyr Omelian stressed that Via Carpatia is an important transport initiative that can become a new reliable bridge between Northern and Southern Europe, and will also help to integrate the transport systems of the countries of Eastern Europe and the European Union.

"The corridor across the Carpathians is also a bridge between Europe and Asia, it allows us to use the transit potential of Poland, Ukraine and other partner countries. That is why the development of transport infrastructure is extremely important for ensuring a sustainable transport connection from Europe to Asia through the territory of Ukraine and Poland, " says the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine. 

During his visit to Poland, Ukrainian Minister of Infrastructure Volodymyr Omelian together with Verkhovna Rada Speaker Andrii Parubii and Marshal of the Seimas of the Republic of Poland Mark Kuchitsky will inspect the work of checkpoints on the Polish-Ukrainian border and the development of the border infrastructure.
