The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine abolished the mandatory application of national standards.

This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.
The Cabinet adopted a resolution that amended some legislative acts of Ukraine in order to harmonize them with the Law on Standardization, which the Verkhovna Rada adopted in February 2016.
The department added that the adoption of this resolution will eliminate inconsistencies in certain norms of certain legislative acts and will help bring the national standardization system in line with international and European norms and rules.
The provisions of the Law establish the voluntariness of the application of national standards, abolish the need to harmonize draft national standards with state bodies and industry standardization.
Voluntary application of the standards meets the requirements of the Agreement on Technical Barriers to Trade of the World Trade Organization, as well as the European principles of standardization. In European practice, references to certain standards in legislative acts, in particular in EU directives, are isolated cases.
It bears reminding that on July 1, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine decided to abolish the state regulation of food prices.
