The USBA determined the price of 2018 Easter basket

The Ukrainian Stock Breeders Association studied the price situation in the market of those food products that Ukrainians put in their Easter baskets, and carried out a detailed comparative analysis of prices of the last year.

It is already a good tradition for the Ukrainians to consecrate Easter baskets at the holy Easter holiday. Every year on this day, families go to church with baskets, in which you can see, besides symbolic Easter bread and eggs, sausages, and dairy products, and many other delicacies. Variants of filling the basket differ depending on the region of Ukraine, but in any case, the selection of products in the basket is not accidental. Each has a symbolic meaning.

The very process of collecting the Easter basket is a kind of ritual and a responsible affair for every mistress. And the question naturally arises: how much does it take to spend money to fill the basket sufficiently, and not expensive. 

The Ukrainian Stock Breeders Association studied the price situation in the market of those food products that Ukrainians put in their Easter baskets, and also carried out a detailed comparative analysis of prices relative to last year.

According to the USBA, the cost of the Easter basket grew by about 150-160 UAH and is more than 700 UAH.

The most expensive components of the holiday basket this year, as in previous years, will be the meat group of goods. Compared to the previous year, the price of beef and pork has increased by an average of 35% and 42% respectively, and today on the market for a kilogram of pork without bone is on average of 113.11 UAH, and for the same amount of beef without bone - 121.31 UAH.

The sausage products also grew by 24%. Well-known from childhood cooked sausage of 1st grade will cost 68.48 UAH per kilogram.

The national product of Ukrainians is salo and it has broken all records on rise in price by almost 70%. Its average price is 70.04 UAH per kilogram.

An irreplaceable attribute of the Easter holidays are, of course, chicken eggs. That is why they are most in demand on the eve of Easter. Compared to last year, chicken eggs (category 1) went up by 41%. Their price is 27,16 UAH for a dozen.

In the market of milk and dairy products, you can also see some changes. Thus, the increase in prices in this group of goods fluctuates in the range of 20-25%, while the cost of direct dairy products has increased by an average of 24% over the year. For example, today a kilogram of cheese is in the supermarket on average 129,32 UAH.

Prices for vegetable products, in particular for tomatoes and cucumbers, which are often placed in the Easter basket, have also changed. In particular, the price for fresh tomatoes increased by 13% compared to last year and is on average 53.67 UAH, but the cost of fresh cucumbers, on the contrary, decreased by 3% and is 57.47 UAH per kilogram.

Well, and most importantly, the decoration of the festive table is Easter bread. Many mistresses bake their own bread, using recipes that are passed on from generation to generation from grandmother to mother, and someone, on the contrary, buy a finished product. So, the price of the such Easter bread increased by 25% and is 73.30 UAH per kilogram.
