Between the regions there is a big price difference: in Ternopil, fat can be bought at 46 UAH / kg, and in Kiev - at 124 UAH / kg.

"The fat in the capital fluctuates between 100 and 150 UAH. At the same time, the price sometimes depends on the sales hours, and not on the quality, " writes the specialist.
Experts compared the prices of lard in the shops of several countries and found out that in Ukraine it is the most expensive.

"It's clear that salo is a product that we are used to buying on the market, but it's impossible to compare prices in different countries." In Ukraine, the price of lard in the store was 157.6 UAH per kg of product, in Belarus - 140.5 UAH / kg , in Lithuania - 138.1 UAH / kg, and in Poland - only 58.4 UAH / kg., Polish producers release fat, with documents necessary for our country, even from UAH 25 per kilogram. "

In Poland, the price of salo is half that of most types of meat, and 3 times that of expensive meat. In Ukraine, the average price of fat is 68 UAH, and the average price of inexpensive pork is 98.5 UAH per kilogram, that is, the cost differs by 1.5 times. And this is not due to the high cost of pork in Poland, but due to the high cost of fat in Ukraine.
The reason for the price records is the reduction in the number of pigs for peasants, since this product is not produced in an industrial way. Fattening pigs takes 3-5 years, so we will have to increase the import of lard, primarily from Poland.

People who have the opportunity to pay for Ukrainian lard will buy it for taste and through pride for our product. Those who consider money buy, choosing at a price. Especially considering that a fifth of those who work, receive a minimum wage, and pensions and social benefits are even less than 3200 UAH.
