"Canada is one of the key partners identified by the Government of Ukraine in the export strategy. We hope that the bilateral agreement on the free trade zone, which has recently entered into force, will yield its results. Therefore, a good start, in 2016, the agricultural trade turnover between our countries grew by more than 90%. I hope that friendly relations between our countries will continue to be supported by economic growth indicators, " says Olena Kovalova.
During the meeting, the Deputy Minister noted that the key principles of the Ukrainian state agrarian policy and state support for 2018 are identified by several important priorities. The first is to promote the development of small and medium-sized producers, farms, and cooperatives, which will strengthen the development of rural areas and enhance competitive opportunities for Ukrainian-made products.
Another focus of state support will be directed to the livestock sector - a third of state financial assistance will be provided to this area. Also, support will be provided for renewal of agricultural machinery and equipment, which will amount to about one-sixth of all state support.
In addition, the parties noted the prospects for cooperation in the field of livestock, in particular sheep and goat breeding, livestock and beekeeping.
At the end of the meeting, the participants agreed on a further dialogue, during which effective steps will be developed in the development of bilateral relations.
