In Ukraine Japan delegation began the audit of state control system in the export of poultry meat and products from it

On July 16, 2018 in Ukraine the delegation of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan began an audit of the state control system on exporting poultry meat and products from it, the website of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection reported.

The delegation of Japan began its work from a meeting in the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection with the Head of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection Volodymyr Lapa. The meeting was attended by First Deputy Head of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection Andrii Zhuk, Director of the Department of Food Safety and Veterinary Medicine Borys Kobal, director of the State Scientific Research Institute for Laboratory Diagnostics and Veterinary Sanitary Examination Oleksandr Pishchanskyi and others.

The Head of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection Volodymyr Lapa noted the efforts made by the parties to organize this visit and organizational work, which became one of the results of the meeting with Japanese colleagues during his visit to Japan. He also noted that the Ukrainian side highly appreciates this progress that Ukraine and Japan managed to achieve in recent years of cooperation and expressed hope for its expansion in the future.

Andrii Zhuk acquainted his Japanese colleagues with the functions and powers of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection and its territorial bodies, the system of state laboratories and hospitals of veterinary medicine.

Also the specialists of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection characterized the state program for monitoring avian influenza, the effectiveness of the state laboratory network for the diagnosis of poultry diseases introduced in Ukraine, and measures that were taken to eliminate outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza in Ukraine in previous years. Particular attention was paid during the discussion to registration of poultry breeding capacities, official control over compliance with biosafety requirements in them and the system of product certification.

It is planned that the representatives of Japan will visit the State Scientific Research Institute for Laboratory Diagnostics and Veterinary and Sanitary Expertise, the border inspection post, several farmsteads and other objects of the poultry industry.

The parties expressed their hope for the fruitful work of the mission of Japan, that is a prerequisite for the opening of the Japanese market for Ukrainian poultry meat and products from it.

The delegation of Japan will work in Ukraine until July 23, 2018.
