Ukraine increased poultry meat exports to almost 185 thousand tons

Ukraine continues to increase the export of poultry products and open new markets. So, according to the State Fiscal Service, 184.6 thousand tons of meat and edible offal of poultry were exported over 7 months of 2018, which is 8.9% more than the same period last year. The products are exported to 80 countries, and in 2018 four new markets were opened - Albania, Ghana, Hong Kong and Morocco, the press service of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy reported.

Actual issues of the poultry industry development and new perspectives were discussed during the 14th International Conference "Poultry breeding 2018" with the participation of the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Viktor Sheremeta, representatives of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection, profile associations, agricultural producers, exporters, international experts.

Special attention was paid to the issue of increasing production, quality and safety of products. Poultry meat is a global trend in the world market and demand for it is growing every year. According to the forecast of OECD-FAO Agricultural Outlook 2018-2027, in 10 years the world consumption of such products will increase by 19 million tons (15.8%) and will amount to about 139 million tons.

Given global trends, Ukraine is increasing poultry meat production and is approaching its volume to the leading countries of the world. So, over 7 months of the current year, agricultural enterprises sold 809.6 thousand tons of meat, which is 5% more than in the same period last year.

Today Ukraine occupies the 7th place in the export of broiler meat in the rating of exporting countries of such products. The largest world importers of this product are Japan, Mexico, EU, Iraq, South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Cuba, Hong Kong, United Arab Emirates, Angola.
