Ukraine deepens cooperation with the Republic of Kenya

Recently, representatives of the Ministry of Agrarian Policy met with Kenyan colleagues at the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries of the Republic of Kenya with the participation of Yevhenii Tsymbaliuk, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the Republic of Kenya. The meeting was held as part of the working visit of the Ukrainian delegation to Kenya.

The purpose of the meeting was to develop practical mechanisms for establishing effective cooperation between Ukraine and Kenya. In addition, the Kenyan side expressed interest in sharing experiences in the field of crop production, livestock, fisheries, in the area of food insecurity, as well as in organic production.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the possibilities of Ukraine in ensuring food security in Kenya, in particular, on the supply of Ukrainian grain to the Republic of Kenya.
As a result of the meeting, the parties agreed to prepare a bilateral interdepartmental document providing for the implementation of measures to develop bilateral trade in agricultural products, exchange of experience and information on sectors, and cooperation in the scientific and research field of agriculture.

During 8 months of 2017, the export of agricultural products from Ukraine to Kenya was $ 46.7 million. Mainly corn and wheat were exported. Import for this period was $ 5 million (tea, fruit, and coffee).
