Slaughter of cattle without electroshock is now constitutionally banned in Germany. The federal government explained that the law is mandatory for all, regardless of religious beliefs. Competent and specially trained people will come to help for those who are not able to stun an animal itself, pigua.info reported.

"For members of certain religious communities who are prohibited by the compulsory rules of their religious community using stunning methods that lead to the death of the animal, the competent authority may (under the Animal Welfare Care Ordinance) provide for short-term electric stunning of animals by supplying a current with the minimum time required to get the desired effect," the government explained.

In order to call "electrical anesthesia" specialist, a preliminary application must be submitted to the appropriate structures. While the German government does not have information on the number of applications filed.
