The Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine is working to increase the volume of exported products with added value, that is, processed products.

This was told by the Deputy Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food for Eurointegration Olha Trofimtseva in an interview with NV Business.

She stressed that in Ukraine there was already an increase in processing for many groups of goods.

"The leading vegetable oil, which we consider to be a processed product. This is not sunflower seeds, we exported as raw materials. For January-October, it was sold at $ 3.6-3.7 billion. Thanks to him, we have a fairly significant share in exports. Now we have about 60 to 40. 60% is raw materials, 40% is processed products, including sunflower oil. However, we aim to reach 60% of processed products and 40% of raw materials in 3-5 years," says Olha Trofimtseva.

She also noted the most promising areas of agricultural production.

"Grain and oilseeds are promising. Let me remind you that we have competitive advantages and the global demand for them is quite large. The state will pay more attention to the livestock sector next year. As I sometimes joke that next big thing to come it will be beef. Why beef? According to the requests that come to the Ministry of Agrarian Policy, there is a demand for this product. And on the other hand, this sub-sector is not currently developed, " says Olha Trofimtseva.

Meat of cattle, according to her data, can be exported to the markets of the East, Asia and Africa, because there are much fewer restrictions in Ukraine than with pork.

"Good results are also shown by organic agricultural products, which I mentioned. Extremely profitable and quite rapidly developing is the organic sector, which is mainly exported to the European Union. The same situation is observed with traditional agricultural products. Most raw materials are exported or used for feed in the livestock sector, " adds Olha Trofimtseva.

Also, in her opinion, the development of agro-technologies, breeding and seeds is promising - it is not only the sale of products, but also the possibility of creating jobs, in addition, it is a push for other sub-sectors.

"The emergence of a market for recycled, high-margin products prompts producers to develop technology. Business understands and always seeks money where it is possible to earn. In this sense, we, the government, and the ministry have an understanding with business,” sums up Olha Trofimtseva.
