Employees of the Main Directorate for Combating Corruption and Organized Crime of the Security Service of Ukraine (the SSU) blocked a large-scale import of counterfeit pesticides to Ukraine in the amount of almost 18 million hryvnia. This is reported by the SSU press center, according to agravery.com.
"The operatives of the special services established that the businessmen ordered products in one of the countries of the Far East and implemented in Ukraine under the guise of European brands," is said in the report.
According to the investigation, the illegal mechanism operated during 2017-2018, counterfeit was imported through seaports.
"In the framework of criminal proceedings opened under Part 2 of Art. 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, law enforcers conducted sanctioned investigative actions in the Kyiv and Vinnytsia region in the premises of regional customs, the Ministry of Ecology, office and warehouse premises of commercial structures," the SSU informed.
So, the documentation was withdrawn, which confirms the import of counterfeit products and about 150 tons of counterfeit pesticides.
"During the pre-trial investigation, possible involvement of officials in the organization of the illegal mechanism and harming the health of the population and the environment due to the use of previously imported pesticides is checked," the SSU concluded.
