Scientists from the University of Edinburgh in Scotland plan to "improve" cows that give milk. They want to do this in order to increase the quality and quantity of milk, beef meat.
Scientists suggest changing the balance of the microflora of animals in their stomach and intestines in order that they quickly process the eaten food into milk. The researchers plan to completely remove from the cow's stomach enzymes, which are responsible for the destruction of plant material necessary for energy production.
Such measures will allow cows to produce more dairy and meat products. In addition, animals will increase their endurance, and due to this, farmers will not need to buy a huge amount of expensive medicines.
