In Ivano-Frankivsk region, following the results of the public hearings on the topic "Organization of the animal slaughter of animals for the purpose of their further implementation," the participants put forward a proposal to shorten the validity of the moratorium on the prohibition of the household slaughter, to introduce a state program for the crediting of construction and equipment of slaughter stations and livestock insurance programs.

During the event, it was noted that at the legislative level in 2005 a decision was made to ban homemade slaughter in order to ensure the proper quality of products, and from January 1, 2010 this law should enter into force. It was adopted with the aim of implementing domestic legislation to European standards and ensuring the gradual entry of our state into the World Trade Organization.

During 2005-2010, qualitative changes were expected, in particular the creation of new slaughter shops meeting European standards. However, this did not happen and the moratorium was extended until 2025. But in the face of the threat of infectious diseases of animals, in particular the problem of African swine fever, citizens have the question of expediency of delaying the duration of the moratorium on household slaughter, which is a latent threat to the quality of products of animal origin.

The participants of the hearings were given the advantages of slaughter at specialized slaughterhouses, the economic costs of the peasants - the owners of livestock for their slaughter, transportation, sale, as well as detailed analysis of the possibility of slaughtering livestock (pigs and cattle) in the licensed slaughterhouses of the Ivano-Frankivsk region with the abolishment of the backyard.

Public hearings were held on the initiative of the public organization "Step into our future", the Ivano-Frankivsk regional organization of entrepreneurs, employers and tenants, with the support of the regional state administration and the Main Directorate of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection in Ivano-Frankivsk region.

The event was organized in accordance with the procedure for conducting public consultations on the formation and implementation of public policy, approved by Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of 03.11.2010, No. 996, as well as the record of the joint meeting of the Ivano-Frankivsk regional organization of entrepreneurs, employers and tenants, “Step into our future " and the State Administration of State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection in Ivano-Frankivsk region.

The hearing was attended by residents of the region, representatives of the regional state administration, the Department of Agro-Industrial Development of the State Administration, entrepreneurs engaged in slaughtering animals for sale in the agro-industrial markets of the region, owners of slaughter stations, representatives of the media and public organizations.
