On May 9 there were protests of farmers organized by the Polish Trade Union throughout the country. They demand restrictions on food imports, compensation for damages caused by weather conditions and ASF, pigua.info reported.

Farmers consider the issue of payment of compensation unresolved. Many farmers cannot wait for the money owed to them. The protesters demand a change in the law in the field of damage assessment and compensation, simplification of procedures in the Agency for Restructuring and Modernization of Agriculture with respect to the Rural Development and Accessibility Program and stop consideration of the bill banning the breeding of fur-bearing animals and ritual slaughter. In addition, people want at least 50% of food products sold in stores to be produced domestically.

The protest activity of Polish farmers does not cease. In December of last year, due to the worsening situation of pig producers in the quarantine zones of the ASF, the All-Polish Association of Farmers' Unions organized a march to Warsaw with the participation of 3,000 people. This spring they already demanded the resignation of the Minister of Agriculture. To express discontent in an open form this year, veterinarians also began to work. They went on a mass holiday on a short-term vacation, demanding higher salaries and increasing of staff.
