In accordance with the Association Agreement with the EU Ukrainian milk processors must refuse to purchase dairy raw materials from the population.
Starting from July 1, 2018 changes in the provisions of the national standard DSTU 3662-97 "Whole cow milk. Requirements in procurement". Milk of the second grade from the population will not be processed, Depo.Khmelnytskyi reported with reference to the ВВС.
However, there is a transitional period, which will last until 2022.
The reason is the provisions on sanitary and hygienic requirements for dairy raw materials, which are part of the Association Agreement. Currently, about 75% of all milk that is produced in Ukraine, primarily in households, does not meet European requirements.
Experts believe that the introduction of a ban on "homemade milk" will encourage to improve the quality of raw materials. Nevertheless, the price growth for final dairy products is not expected, because in theory, the higher the quality of raw materials, the less is spent on its processing.
