New standards DSTU 3662: 2015 "Cow milk-raw material. Technical conditions", according to which the population will not sell milk for the food industry, will enter into force, but it will not work.

This was stated by the chairman of the board of directors of the Union of Dairy Enterprises of Ukraine Vadym Chaharovskyi in an interview with Glavcom, agroportal.ua reported.

"I say that it will be introduced (a new standard, ed.), but it will not work. In Ukraine, the deficit of dairy raw materials, and therefore we have such a phenomenon as seasonality. In winter, milk is produced less than in summer," the expert said.

He explained that from November to April cows are kept in a stable. This is a great stress for them, so less milk is produced.

"It is needed to feed the cow for six months with feed, which is difficult to harvest. It does not eat up and gives less milk. Therefore, in the winter, peasants give much less milk," Chaharovskyi said.

In his opinion, in the period when there is a shortage of dairy raw materials, the ban on accepting milk of the second quality grade will never work.

"How will milk be taken?" They will take the second quality milk for processing enterprises and write "first quality" on it. And that is all. We must at least double the production of industrial milk in order to dictate new standards," Chaharovskyi said.

He also noted that the current statistics on milk production is not true. "We constantly hear that we now produce 10.3 million tons. You can trust the data on the production of so-called industrial milk. However, there is a manipulation in figures on milk, which is produced by the population. In my opinion, 7-7.5 million tons of milk are real figures," Chaharovskyi said.
