First Vice-President of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences Mykhailo Hladii instructed the heads of the research farms of the NASA network to strengthen veterinary and sanitary measures to protect animals from African swine fever (ASF). This is reported by the press service of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences, pigua.info reported.

As was reported during the meeting, 95 cases of African swine fever were recorded over 7 months of this year in Ukraine. Some of them were registered in experimental farms of scientific institutions of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences.

"If there is any force majeure, the heads of farms should promptly provide truthful information to the leadership of the Academy. In addition, I encourage everyone to cooperate with our veterinary medicine institutes, which produce high-quality and affordable drugs to protect animals. After all, effective prevention requires common efforts," Mykhailo Hladii noted.

Following the results of the meeting, the state enterprises of the National Academy of Agrarian Sciences network were instructed to conclude agreements with the scientific institutions of veterinary medicine of the Academy before October 1 on the implementation of scientific support and provision of veterinary and sanitary services, report financial costs for planned anti-epizootic measures, and ensure quarterly monitoring of the quality of raw cow milk. The main doctors of veterinary medicine should analyze the feed in relation to their quality and safety for balancing rations and preventing animal diseases.

It bears reminding that 78 cases of ASF were recorded over January-June 2018 in Ukraine compared to 77 over the same period last year.
