Most Ukrainian small and medium-sized producers are completely unprepared to perceive the problem of ensuring the quality of food.
This was told by the coordinator of the Analytical Center of the Agrarian Union of Ukraine Larisa Starikova during the round table on "The Ukrainian grain market: effective regulation for world leadership" in Kiev.

It bears reminding that Ukrainian manufacturers actually refused to produce high-quality products.

According to the elderly, the issue of product quality is a function of industry associations, and the process of decentralization must be accompanied by the development of branch self-government.

The issue of reclamation and the prices of Ukrainian products on foreign markets depend on quality and safety, and these issues need to be addressed not in export, but in the process of preparing for production. The main array of our producers are small and medium-sized farms that are absolutely not ready to accept this issue. They believe that the main thing is to produce products faster and sell it, the expert has said.

She added that today farmers are in a weak state. An example is the farms that have up to 100 hectares and try to grow the same thing as agroholdings.

They are not effective, and they will never be able to compete with holdings in this niche, so they shout that they need to be supported, that is, the farmer class is not formed in Ukraine today." We clearly understand what an agroholding or medium-sized farm, but the concept of the farmer is vague, the analyst has said.

In addition, she added that in fact, farmers could, and wanted to ensure the proper level of safety of their products, bring production standards closer to European standards, but they have neither the means nor the knowledge.

We can bring farming " in fine feather " in a few years, but for this we need a clear state policy, a course for development, Larysa Starikova has summed up.
