The State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection works on changes in the procedure for compensation of losses caused to farms due to the liquidation of ASF infected pigs.

This was reported by the chairman of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection Volodymyr Lapa in an exclusive interview with AgroPolit.com.

It bears reminding that private sector farms since early 2017 compensated for losses for the removal of pigs due to ASF almost 15.9 million UAH, which is 89% of the required amount.

According to Lapa, the changes are aimed at allowing to promptly and fully paying out money to citizens from specialized farms for the cattle seized from the population for ASF.

In the draft budget for 2018, which is registered in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers proposed to significantly increase the amount of funding for antiepizootic measures: if this year 113 million UAH was allocated for these purposes, next year it is proposed to provide 687 million UAH.

"Prime Minister Volodymyr Hroisman already supported the idea of more prompt compensation through anti-epizootic funds, should be received next year, while the draft state budget-2018 provides for an increase in financing of such activities more than five-fold. Discussion with the Finance Ministry is not easy, but for some reason I am sure that everything will turn out well, "concludes Volodymyr Lapa.
