The market of canned meat falls in Ukraine for several years. There are two main reasons. The first is the loss of the Russian market. The second - consumer (Ukrainians often buy raw meat or sausages).

"The decline in market capacity recorded in 2015. The fact is that the producers worked mainly for export. At the same time, Ukraine imported fewer imported meat products. As a result, the export-import balance indicators improved, but the volume of the domestic market subsided. For comparison, in 2015, meat processing enterprises produced 119.69 thousand tons of products, in 2016 - 90.36 thousand tons. The trend continued in 2017, when the production of canned meat fell by 11.12% compared to the same period last year, " is said in the company.
Experts added that the key reason for the decline in the production of canned meat was the increase in the production of sausages, which began to occupy part of the niche market for canned meat.
"In addition, the production of frozen poultry meat has been reduced, which is used for canning, as the volume of fresh and chilled meat has increased. In addition, many consumers prefer to buy fresh meat and make their own stew. Thus, the main reasons for the fall of the market are two. The first is the loss of the Russian market. The second is consumer, as Ukrainians are more likely to buy raw meat or sausage products, " is said in the company.
