By developing the cooperative movement we will create a powerful competition, so that we will be able to resist the monopolies and the dictates of prices. This was reported by Oleksii Doroshenko, the general director and founder of the Ukrainian Association of Trade Network Suppliers, a deputy of the Kyiv Regional Council, in an exclusive interview "In July we expect a decline in prices for a number of products, but not inflation" for AgroPolit.com.
"The cooperative movement will uniquely change the prices for products, because the more the number of players - the less monopolies and the dictates of prices. There is a great risk that in a few years all our agricultural markets will become oligopolistic, as has already happened with the market of chicken and eggs. There you can feel the influence of one, two or three big players," he noted.
According to the expert, Europe began to develop the agricultural sector with cooperation. Doroshenko noted that in order to get rid of the oligarchy, Ukraine needs cooperatives.
"Agroholdings are the same oligarchy in the agricultural sector. We should not allow it, or even get rid of it. Most berry cooperatives are developing in the western regions, and dairy companies have been trying to create dairy products throughout Ukraine for many years. However, they work only in the southern part, there is a big market player, which requires a lot of milk of good quality," he said.
