The State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection started working under the new rules for checking food quality, which should help get rid of endless bribes.

For business, there is nothing more terrible than a check by the Sanitary and Epidemiological Station, the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection and various inspectors. Many entrepreneurs simply include in the constant costs of bribes. This is stated in the plot of the economic weekly First Column, according to biz.nv.ua.

However, recently this practice has a chance to stay in the past. In April this year in Ukraine, the law "On a new system for checking food quality and safety" was launched.

What will it change and how will it help to protect against the expropriation of various services?

Prior to this, the law "On Basic Principles and Requirements for Safety and Quality of Food Products" was in force over almost 10 years. Oleksii Ostrovskyi, managing director of Whiskey Corner, says that now his company has information about planned inspections coming in advance, even 10 days before it starts.

Ukraine's active actions towards European integration led to the development of new requirements in the field of quality control of products.

Henceforth, the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection without warning, but with an obligatory video fixation of the inspector can pay cafes, restaurants, supermarkets or profile enterprises a visit. Penalties, in case of detection of offenses, can be up to 70 thousand UAH.

Now the food safety management system - the so-called HACCP - is used almost everywhere. The legislation of the EU, the USA, Canada, Japan, New Zealand and many other countries of the world requires reliable protection of consumers from the dangers that may entail food products. Now Ukraine is added to this list.

Since September 20, 2018, large enterprises will begin to check, and from September 20, 2019, they will also check small capacities. All our restaurants, businesses working with food will also have to register capacities. This can be done online. And this will also be checked by the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection. "We have a year to prepare for this, document every process of creating a document," says Mykhailo Nosalyk, a lawyer at Global Law.

With the new rules, the checks will become more transparent, and the claims, while not perfect, but understandable, are claimed by the owners of public catering establishments.

Oleksii Boiko, head of the department for work with Fornetti franchise network, says that now the rules clearly outline the evaluation criteria and provide a European approach: "If we take the European experience, the points of catering, for example, in Hungary, even in underground transitions in the subway have running water. In Ukraine, most of the retail products are sold where there is no running water. "

So, the new rules for checking the quality of products can only improve the situation in the country as a whole and in business - in particular. Therefore, the competition can become healthy, and corruption - impossible.

In addition, see the First Column program for a special report on how leading supermarkets are fighting for customers. And also a story about how the capital prepared for the football event - the final of the UEFA Champions League.

The release is completed by a review of economic events for the week from blogger and business journalist Denys Bezliudko.
