The index of the meat basket increased by 38% in 2017

For a year growth was observed on all social food products, except for sugar and buckwheat.

At the same time, all types of meat became more expensive by 30-68%, namely: salo - 68%, pork - 42%, beef - 34% and chicken - 30%.

For twelve months, pork and beef were added in price by 29 UAH per kilogram, salo - 28 UAH, sausage boiled - 15 UAH, and chicken carcass - 12 UAH. Now a kilogram of beef with bone can be bought on average for 113 UAH, pork - for 98 UAH, salo - for 68 UAH, cheap boiled sausage - for 75 UAH, and chicken in a carcass - for 53 UAH.

If in general, to assess the cost of the meat basket, that is, take 1 kilogram of all types of meat, then as of December 1, it cost 407 UAH, whereas a year ago its cost was 294 UAH. That is, the meat basket index for the year increased by 38%, while the average wage from November 2016 to October 2017 increased by 36%, from 5,406 UAH in November 2016 to 7377 UAH in October 2017

The answer to the question why Ukrainians are buying less meat is that the price of meat grew faster than our average wages, not to mention pensions and social payments.
