Import of pork exceeded exports by 4 times

The import of imported raw materials from abroad for the corresponding period amounted to 1 thousand tons. Therefore, the volume of pork imports in the second month of autumn exceeded the volumes of external supplies by more than four times.

The weakening of export activity and the revival of imports are observed against the backdrop of a sufficiently high level of domestic prices. So, although the average purchase price in October was lower than its September record level by 6%, but still exceeds the corresponding August figure.

"According to the results of ten months of 2017, the volume of pork from abroad came quantitatively (+ 62%), and the value (almost twice) exceeded the relevant indicators of January-October last year, amounting to 4.1 thousand tons with a total value of 7.2 million US dollars. However, due to the low activity of pork imports during the first half of the year and the bustling activity of domestic exporters of this type of meat during this period, Ukraine retains the title of net pork exporter with a positive foreign trade balance of $ 2.4 million, " comment experts.
