Four cases of ASF are recorded in Ukraine

In Ternopil, Lviv, Poltava regions and Volyn were recorded cases of African swine fever (ASF). This is reported by the website of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection,  agropolit.com reported.

The report says that, according to the information of the General Directorate of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection in Ternopil region, the death of pigs was registered in the personal subsidiary farm of the citizen of Antonivtsi village, Shumskyi  district, Ternopil region.

In the study of selected samples of biomaterial in the Lviv Regional State Laboratory of Veterinary Medicine on 16.06.2018 the diagnosis - African swine fever (ASF) was established (report on the results of the study No. 000714 p.m./18 of 16.06.2018).

In addition, according to the information of the Main Department of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection in the Volyn region, the death of wild pigs was recorded in the territory of the Ukrainian Society of Hunters and Fishermen of the Zamlynskyi forestry in the tracts "Zakaznyk" and "Vilshyna" (Liubomlskyi district, Volyn region).

Also on June 17, 2018, the Regional State Laboratory of the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection in the Poltava region identified the DNA of the ASF virus in the study of a biomaterial taken from pigs in the private agribusiness “Dykanske” of the Velyki Budyshcha village of the Dykanskyi district of the Poltava region (report on the results of the study No. 002088 p.m./18 of 17.06.2018) and 18.06.2018 was confirmed by the State Research Institute for Laboratory Diagnostics and Veterinary and Sanitary Expertise (report on the results of the study No. 006493 p.m./18 of June 18, 2018).

To localize and eliminate outbreaks of ASF, a meeting of state emergency antiepizootic commissions was held at the appropriate regional state administrations, the decisions of which approved plans for the elimination of ASF, the borders of epizootic foci, protection zones and surveillance. In the foci of the disease, measures are taken to localize and prevent the spread of the pathogen of ASF.
