Food products in Ukraine fell in price again in August

Consumer prices in Ukraine in August 2018 compared with July have not changed, according to the State Statistics Service. Since the beginning of the year (by December 2017), prices in Ukraine have grown by 3.6%, agronews.ua reported.

According to the statistical office, on an annual basis (before August 2017), inflation accelerated to 9.0%.

Products in Ukraine in August fell in price by 0.7%. Vegetables fell by 10.5%, fruits –  by 6.2%. Eggs raised by 6.0%, meat - by 1.0%, bread – by 0.8%. Prices for other products have not changed significantly.

Prices for alcoholic beverages and tobacco products increased by 0.9%, clothing and footwear fell by 2.6%, housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels went up by 0.5%.

It bears reminding that consumer prices in Ukraine for 2017 raised by 13.7%. In January, the National Bank raised its forecast for inflation in Ukraine in 2018 from 7.3% to 8.9% and in 2019 from 5.0% to 5.8%.
