Capital investments in agriculture, forestry and fisheries in the first half of 2018 amounted to 26,869.8 million UAH, which is 9 8% compared to the same period last year. This was reported by the leading researcher of the National Scientific Center "Institute of Agrarian Economics", Ph.D. Mykola Kisil, commenting on the recently released data of the State Statistics Committee of Ukraine, the website of the agency reported.

He noted that simultaneously in agriculture, capital investments for the first half of the year increased by only 9.2%, while last year the growth rate of capital investments in agriculture, hunting and related services amounted to 42, to the corresponding period of the previous year, 1%, and in 2016 - 73.8%.

A significant increase in capital investments was achieved in forestry and logging - by 66.4%. In the fishery, on the contrary, they decreased by 18.6%.

By the size of capital investments, which in fact do not exceed $ 110 per hectare of land, Ukraine is much inferior to the developed countries of the world. There, this figure is at least $ 150 per hectare.

In the production of food, beverages and tobacco products, the investment processes in the first half of 2018 were somewhat animated, although they remain insufficiently active, namely, the production of these products is unattractive. The total volume of capital investments for its development in January-June of this year in comparison with the corresponding period of 2017 increased by 27.4% and amounted to 9371.8 million UAH. That is, the production of food, beverages and tobacco products accounted for only 39 kopecks for 1 UAH of investments in agriculture, the scientist explained. In 2010, this figure was 1 UAH, and in 2000 - 2.16 UAH.

"Taking into account the results of the first half of the year, there is a fairly high probability that the trend of slowing the rate of growth in capital investments in agriculture will continue until the end of the year," Mykola Kisil summed up.
