Belarusian companies consider Ukrainian ports as an alternative to the Baltic for exporting their products. This was announced by the head of the Administration of the Seaports of Ukraine Rajwis Wezkahans, the agency reported.

“Our Belarusian partners are interested in having a profitable alternative to the Baltic ports for exporting their products. We managed to convey to them the potential benefits of cooperation with Ukrainian ports. As a result, they now consider routes through Ukraine promising,” says Rajwis Wezkahans, following the results of bilateral meetings in Minsk.

He also added that the capacities of Ukrainian ports now allow accepting and transshipping Belarusian cargo in large volumes.

Logistics between Belarus and Ukraine can be built using the opportunities of Ukrzaliznytsia. Moreover, the Belarusian side has a positive experience of receiving and sending goods for the use of Ukrainian container trains Zubr and Vikinh. There is also another promising transport direction - the development of inland waterways.

“We discussed the main areas of work to ensure navigation on Prypiat and Dnipro. The implementation of such projects is possible subject to the coordination of synchronized actions on both sides, as well as availability of cargo traffic guarantees from cargo owners and shippers,” says the head of the Administration of the Seaports of Ukraine.

In the near future, it is planned to hold a meeting at the interstate level to discuss interaction in the field of joint development of transport infrastructure and an increase in freight turnover between Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus.
