Belarus is interested in bringing forward the certification of poultry farms to start exporting poultry meat and products from it to the European Union.

According to the press service of the Belarusian government, this was stated by Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Rusy during a meeting with the European Commissioner for Food Safety and Security Vytenis Andriukaitis, agronews.ua reported.

According to him, Belarus also expects to expand the list of products allowed for import into the European Union, and, as a result, to increase mutual exports and trade.

Another issue raised at the meeting is the transit of Belarusian products to the Kaliningrad region of Russia, which is currently difficult.

"We are open and ready to solve many issues, including those raised by the European Union - on ASF and other," Mikhail Rusy said. He recalled that after the discovery of the African swine fever in Belarus in 2013, very strict measures were taken to resolve the situation.

In turn, Vytenis Andriukaitis stressed his commitment to cooperation with the Belarusian authorities on animal health issues and suggested strengthening the exchange of information on animal disease surveillance and cooperation on the diagnosis of such diseases.
