According to the requirements of the agreement with the EU, Ukraine should abandon domestic milk from January 1 this year, but peasants can sleep peacefully, because the ban to sell homemade milk was postponed until July 1, 2018.

So, according to the new DSTU of Ukraine, there must remain three varieties of extra milk, prime and first quality.

Because of this, in some regions of Ukraine, milk processors have already started preparing for this from the first days of the new year, in order to play ahead and move to a new standard.

However, so far the situation is not critical for the peasants who produce homemade milk.

After the Ministry of Agrarian Policy in late 2017 recommended the State Standard of Ukraine (DSTU) 3662: 2015 "Milk raw cow. Technical specifications "from July 1, 2018. That is, six months later than is stipulated in the agreement with the EU. Such a decision was supported by the State Veterinary and Phytosanitary Service of Ukraine, State Enterprise "Ukrmetrteststandart", State Enterprise "UkrNDNC" and a number of profile associations that submitted their proposals to the developed version. "

This means that now the second grade of milk (the so-called home), from which they had to refuse in the new version of the DSTU, officially remains a legal option for the sale of raw materials for industrial processing. Market operators feared that such a decision (the ban as of January 1, 2018) could lead to unpredictable consequences for the dairy industry as a whole, and for the population in rural areas.
