African swine fever continues to spread among the Russia. During the last week, outbreaks were recorded in the Kalininhrad, Cheliabinsk and Tiumen regions, where previously the disease was not registered.

On one of the largest pig enterprises of the Tyumen region - the company " Kompleks" (Isetskyi district) the ASF was found. According to the government of the region, about 16 thousand animals are to be destroyed.

Pork from the enterprise was supplied to large processing plants in the region, so their products will be removed from circulation and stored in isolation during laboratory tests. In addition, all pigs are subject to elimination within a radius of 5 km from the source of infection.

Also last week ASF was confirmed in the Chelyabinsk region. In the outbreak, 302 pigs were slaughtered and destroyed.

According to the International Epizootic Bureau, as of November 3, in Russia, during 2017, 160 outbreaks of ASF were registered in 18 regions, including 133 among domestic pigs.

According to the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Supervision, since 2007, when the first ASF was detected in Russia, direct losses due to the spread of the virus amounted to 5 billion rubles, while indirect losses reach 50-70 billion rubles.
